Why Do Cats Do Whatever They Want?
Felines do what they want, when they want, how they want. But why?
My dog is obsessed with my every move. "Oh you are going to the other room, so am I!" If I walk in the house, my dog is the first to greet me, jump on me, and slobber all over my feet until I drop everything I'm doing and give that little corgi the belly rubs he so obsessively needs.
It's been found that this dog behavior stems from the instincts of the domesticated dog that recognize humans and something other than themselves. They almost always completely switch behaviors and attitude when around humans vs around other dogs or animals.
Cats on the other hand, a BIG NOPE! Cats, based on decades of research, seem to be stuck mentally between treating humans as their kids, their parents, their equals, and as an alien..just kidding. King of!
To keep things short and sweet, cats do what they want because they don't know what's right or wrong. Cats just do. Now that their food, warmth, and survival needs are met living in your purrrfect home, they have all the free time in the world to try new things. Whether it's balancing on the doorframe, jumping on the cupboards, zooming through tight spaces, or whacking you when you run by, your cat does what they want because they don't know any better!
